Beach Operations

1. Is my Senior Citizen VIP photo ID that was issued to me prior to 2016 still valid?: Yes, although now there is a $10 fee for a Senior Citizen season beach badge, we will
honor Senior Citizen VIP photo IDs that were issued before 2016.

2. It started to rain after I paid for a beach pass. Can I obtain a refund?: No. All beach pass sales are final.

3. I forgot my season beach badge at home? Can I enter the beach if I present ID?: No. Beach attendants have no way to match your ID with a season beach badge.

4. Can my dog accompany me onto the ocean beach?: Dogs and other pets are not permitted on the ocean beach. We encourage you to visit our dog friendly bay beach.

5. Can my service dog accompany me onto the beach?: Bona fide service animals accompanying persons with disabilities are permitted on the Boardwalk Promenade and beaches. A service animal is a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. Service animals are working animals, not pets. Examples of potentially bona fide service animals include guide dogs, hearing dogs, mobility dogs, medical alert dogs, and psychiatric service dogs. A service dog vest and identification tag are not prima facie proof that your dog is a bona fide service animal. Although we are not permitted to ask about your disability, staff are trained to make limited inquiries permitted by the ADA in order to determine whether your dog is a bona fide service animal. A “comfort dog,” “emotional support dog,” or “therapy dog” that is not individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability is not a bona fide service animal. All service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. Service animal fraud is punishable by law!

6. I am over 21 years of age. Can I drink alcoholic beverages on the beach?: No. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the beach except during certain special events. Check with the event sponsor.

7. Can I bring a cooler on the beach?: Small coolers are permitted. However, coolers, barrels, and tubs that exceed 24" in length and/or have a capacity greater than 36 quarts are NOT permitted. A beach attendant or security officer may inspect your cooler for glass bottles and alcoholic beverages – neither of which are permitted on the beach.

8. I lost my season beach badge. Can I obtain a replacement at no cost?: No. You will need to purchase a new season badge at full price.

9. How much does a daily wristband cost?: $8.00 weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

10. Can I bring alcoholic beverages onto the beach?: Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

1. Does Mayor Vaz officiate civil marriage ceremonies?: Yes. But your marriage ceremony will have to be scheduled for a date and time that Mayor Vaz is available. Please contact Deputy Borough Clerk Victoria Coppola at 732-212-6806 for more information.

1. Am I eligible to vote?: You are eligible to register to vote in New Jersey if the following is true. You are a United States citizen; and you are at least 17 years old (however, you may not vote until reaching the age of 18); and you are a resident of New Jersey and Ocean County at least 30 days before the election; and you are not currently serving a sentence, probation or parole because of a felony conviction. If you meet the above requirements, you may register to vote by mail or in-person. The registration deadline to vote at the next election is 21 days prior to election day.

2. What makes me not eligible to vote?: You are not eligible to register to vote if:
- You are serving a sentence, on parole or probation as a result of a conviction for an indictable offense under state or federal law or have been adjudged mentally incompetent.
- If you were registered to vote before you were convicted, you must complete a new voter registration form once you have served your time.
- If you are a pre-trial detainee or on bail pending appeal, you do not lose your right to vote.

3. Am I registered to vote?: To find out if you are registered, search the New Jersey Division of Elections database.

4. How and where do I register to vote?: All Voter Registration applications must be returned to the Ocean County Board of Elections or to the Borough Clerk’s Office, at least 21 days prior to the next election in order to be eligible to vote in that election.
