Borough Council at the September 5th regular meeting, awarded a contract for Lincoln Avenue road improvements in the amount of $140,813 to Earle Asphalt Company. The project is funded by the NJ Department of Transportation as part of the FY 2017 Municipal Aid Program. The full amount of the grant to Seaside Heights is $175,000 and includes engineering and contract administration costs. The project covers Lincoln Avenue between Central Avenue and Bay Boulevard and will likely commence mid- to end of October. Residents that anticipate doing any work on their property, including gas connections, that would require opening the road after the road is paved are encouraged to get that work done before the road improvement program starts. The Borough Code provides for a 5-year road opening moratorium on newly paved roads. Stated differently, once the road is paved the Borough will not issue a road opening permit for a period of five years.
