Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

In order to satisfy a Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) as part of a negotiated agreement and Administrative Consent Order with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, the Borough of Seaside Heights installed six (6) dual-port bollard mounted Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. These stations have the capacity to charge up to twelve (12) hybrid and all-electric motor vehicles. Site #1 is located at the Municipal Parking Lot on Grant Avenue (above photo) and Site #2 is located on Ocean Terrace in the small parking lot adjacent to the new year-round comfort station. The EV charging stations are managed by ChargePoint which maintains smart phone apps available from the App Store (iPhone) and Google Play. Total costs (excluding consultant's fees) are $73,935. The Borough's obligation under the SEP and Administrative Consent Order are $71,700. The Borough received a $20,000 grant to offset these hard costs.

Army Corp of Engineers Dune & Beach Renourishment Project

The project is ACTIVE in Seaside Heights as of Sunday, November 11, 2018.

Between October 27 & 30, 2012, Hurricane Sandy significantly damaged the New Jersey coast from Sandy Hook to Cape May and up the Delaware Bay. The hurricane caused a breach in Mantoloking and significant damage to Seaside Heights, Mantoloking, Ortley Beach, Lavallette and Seaside Park. Significant damage also occurred to piers, boardwalks, amusements, residential and commercial properties. In response, the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act of 2013 was passed by Congress and signed into law by the President on January 29, 2013 as Public Law 113-2 (Act).
